Nomination Guidelines

The Meriden Hall of Fame Association, Inc. was established in 1975 to honor prominent people, living or deceased, who live or have lived in Meriden, who have distinguished themselves over time in their professional and public lives, and in so doing, have brought honor to the City of Meriden. Permanent plaques displayed at Meriden City Hall pay tribute to the inductees.

To nominate someone for consideration for the Meriden Hall of Fame, complete the Nomination Form.

Completed forms and any supporting documentation can be mailed or emailed to the Meriden Hall of Fame and must be postmarked/dated no later than December 31, (details below). Partially-complete or incomplete forms will not be considered.

A Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors will review nominations and recommend individuals from across 11 nomination categories to appear on the ballot. The Committee will consider the following non-exclusive criteria of each nominee during the selection process:

  • Lived and/or worked in Meriden at some time;
  • Recognized as outstanding in their field;
  • Known nationally or internationally, either in the popular sense or has a national or international reputation within their field (preferable);
  • Of good character and has performed in a manner as to be a credit to and/or a benefactor of the City of Meriden.

The Meriden Hall of Fame Association does not and shall not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.

The Board of Directors will vote on the Committee’s recommendations and will create an official voting ballot with the candidates and their respective categories. The ballot will be made public in February or March and will be mailed to all dues-paid members of the Meriden Hall of Fame as of April 1. Anyone can nominate an individual for consideration but only dues-paid members can vote.

Honorees voted into the Meriden Hall of Fame will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting (June) and recognized at the Induction Ceremony and Reception (October). Click here to watch recordings of past Induction Ceremonies on YouTube.
